OVERALL APPEARANCE: Though it is not his true appearance, Pierce chooses to be seen as he was at a younger age. He is of average height, thin, and surprisingly fit for one who never exercised. His brown hair is nearly always impeccably styled into a quiff. Sometimes he wears glasses with thick black frames that accentuate his eyes.

DISLIKES: cats (he's allergic), statues (long story), people who betray his trust, needles and sharp things in general, hospitals
FEARS: death, large bodies of water, losing control, hurting the people he loves, breaking down and falling apart
GENERAL PERSONALITY: Pierce is charismatic in an odd, slightly aloof way. He knows all of the right things to say and when to smile, but sometimes it just seems like he's going through the motions. While Pierce is quite numb to the world in many aspects, he cares about the mistakes he has made in the past and works very hard to make sure that others do not repeat them. He is sometimes quite awkward, although less so than when he was younger. He does not have many close relations because of his past, being afraid to hurt them and afraid of them hurting him.
History
When Pierce was young, he was completely oblivious to the power he held. His father, another divine magician, left before he was born (Pierce never knew that he was actually taken away and killed), and his mother was human and completely unaware that magic even existed. At the age of twenty-two, Pierce met a woman, Medea, who was able to sense magical auras. However, she was in the employment of The Defenders and she and her two sisters tried to dispose of him after telling him of the forces he could harness. Pierce was just barely able to escape them, killing the three women and then using his new found power to heal his wounds, beginning his descent into the path of black magic.
But The Defenders couldn't leave him alone. He was, after all, a nearly omnipotent god who had to be eradicated. A new woman, a siren named Micah, was sent after Pierce, but this time she gained his trust before betraying him. He was captured and tortured. Wanting to see just how much he could take without dying, they performed many gruesome experiments on him, finally removing his heart while Pierce was completely awake. He was nearly dead, and in an insane amount of pain. His breathing was so shallow that, without a heartbeat, the torturers were unable to tell that he was not truly gone, and he was buried alive.
When he next woke up, he swore that he would get revenge. While he had been able to heal most of his injuries, he was still heartless and running mostly on the magic in his veins. He escaped his prison and murdered every one of The Defenders that he could find, each death pushing him farther and farther off of the edge. Finally, he found Micah. The woman that he had loved, the one who had caused all of his grief and pain. As the life bled out of her, she confessed that she had not wanted to lead him down the path that she had, but she had been threatened with the deaths of those she loved if she did not cooperate, and she forgave Pierce for killing her.
After that encounter, Pierce realized that killing all of The Defenders was getting him nowhere. He would never find all of them, and it just gave them what they wanted-- a reason to hate magic, to keep disposing of the ones they feared. He was no better than them. However, he had still murdered so many, used his powers out of fear and anger. The dark magic had corrupted his soul and physical form. He was barely human anymore. It took time, but he was able to recover, to pull himself out of the hole he had dug himself. He hides his true form with an illusion, and created a school to keep young magicians safe, to try and keep them from repeating his mistakes. (Jesus Christ this is long)

The guard pulled me down the stairs, gripping me tightly by my arm. I scowled at the floor as we walked along the empty hallway, and my blurry reflection stared up at me from the over-polished surface. The guard took a turn and opened the door to a dark room, pushing me inside, not even bothering to unlock my handcuffs. In the pitch black, tears began to roll down my face. I had survived for three years on my own, but here I was, sniveling in defeat like a stupid teenage girl.
If I were in a fairy tale, this would be the happy ending.
The part where the hero is triumphant, where the villain was destroyed.
My fall from grace.
But this wasn't a fairy tale. I would rise to the top again. somehow.
Suddenly, a dim light clicked on. I heard the hum of electric generators. I also noticed I wasn't alone. There was someone sitting in the corner of the cell, as alone as I felt. I wiped the tears from my face and glared at the figure. "Who are you?" I said, trying to seem braver than I felt right now.
